Arden Shostak is an interdisciplinary artist and writer from Virginia. He holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and has been awarded residences with VisArts, Wildacres, and Tabby Studio, among others.  He explores themes of queerness, resilience, and climate crisis through observed and imagined scenes of the natural world. Many of his visual references come from the diverse ecology of his local area. Responding to landscape painting traditions, he works towards the use of the genre to repair and protect the environment, to provoke action towards collective liberation, and to emphasize beauty, spirit, and mystery.
